Efficient air filtration for engines & interiors
Electrified cabin air filter Blue.ion
Electrified, compact, efficient: the Blue.ion cabin air filter
Every hour, a car's ventilation system draws around 300,000 liters of air into the vehicle interior - and with it, pollutants, allergens and odors from the immediate surroundings. Astonishing, but proven: Vehicle occupants can be up to five times more polluted than passers-by on the roadside. The importance of air quality in the passenger compartment for health and driving safety is immense.
The good news is that cabin air filters significantly reduce pollution levels, even for the finest particles (PM1 and smaller), thus contributing to a healthy and hygienic climate in the vehicle. When designing cabin air filters, the conflicting objectives are to combine the lowest possible flow resistance and the filtration of the finest particles in a given installation space.
This is quite a challenge.
The new Blue.ion cabin air filter impresses with its permanently high and energy-efficient filtration performance, which is achieved through a combination of ionization of the particles in the air flow and polarization of the Filter medium.

Ionization & polarization
The new Blue.ion cabin air filter from Hengst impresses with its permanently high and energy-efficient filtration performance, which is achieved through a combination of ionization of the particles in the air flow and polarization of the Filter medium.
An ionizer is located directly in front of the filter and ensures that the particles are electrostatically charged. This makes them easier to filtrate in the filter, which is also charged.
Despite ionization, the charge in the filter decreases over the course of the filter's service life, resulting in a loss of performance and reduced particle separation. At this point, polarization has a complementary effect.
By using an electrostatic field, the charge in the Filter medium is permanently maintained. Overall, the combined system ensures consistently high filtration over the entire service life.
