In addition to our commitment to our planet in terms of sustainability, we also assume social responsibility. Children and young people are particularly important to us, so that all young people have the same opportunities for a fulfilling life. We therefore support numerous social projects worldwide.
We provide technical and financial support to schools and universities in the vicinity of our 23 locations. We also offer a wide range of internships to give pupils and students an insight into the career opportunities at Hengst. As a manufacturing company, we have a particular focus on girls and young women, who are unfortunately still underrepresented in the so-called MINT professions. Our goal is a balanced ratio and equal starting conditions for everyone.
It is also important to us that we give something back to society locally. In the areas surrounding our branches, we support clubs and events in elite and popular sport as a sponsor. We are convinced that sport has a direct impact on health and well-being. We also support cultural and charitable institutions and clubs.
A special place with us: The Herzenswünsche e.V. association
At the heart of our charitable commitment is the nationwide association Herzenswünsche e.V. The association has set itself the task of fulfilling the wishes of seriously ill children and young people in Germany. The aim is to give them strength for their recovery and to distract them from everyday hospital life. Whether it's a trip, a meeting with their favorite star or an adventurous experience, the Herzenswünsche association does everything it can to make this dream come true for children and young people.
The Herzenswünsche e.V. association was founded by Wera Röttgering, daughter of company founder Walter Hengst. With a total of 70 volunteers and full-time helpers, the association now fulfills at least one heart's desire every day.
