What are the benefits of a pre-filter for direct air capture systems?
A special pre-filter removes both harmful gases and particles, thus increasing the service life of the CO₂ capture unit. This keeps efficiency high and costs low. Our tests show that the use of a pre-filter minimizes degradation and protects the CO₂ capture unit, especially amine-based sorbent systems. Another point is that more and more dust accumulates inside the DAC system over time. This leads to lower purity in the product flow and also clogs the CO₂ separation unit. In addition, dust deposits cause the differential pressure to rise, which inevitably increases operating costs. The pre-filter therefore ensures the required purity and a minimum differential pressure at the same time.
