Münster. Filtration specialist Hengst Filtration has closed 2022 with a record result and expects business to continue to develop positively in the future. Group-wide turnover of 655 million euros represents an increase of 13 percent compared to the previous year and almost a doubling in five years.
War, inflation, transformation: we were all excited to see how 2022 would go for us. The fact that we were ultimately able to achieve this result is a great success for all our employees.
Christopher Heine
CEO
The backbone of this growth was primarily business in the independent aftermarket. Sales in the global aftermarket exceeded 200 million euros for the first time last year. Overall, however, all business units and all regions except China (due to coronavirus) performed well in 2022. Hengst Filtration recorded strong growth in the area of industrial and environmental applications. "And we expect further growth of around 100 million euros in 2023," says CFO Holger Krumel, looking ahead.
At the same time, the M&A strategy underlines the transformation from an automotive supplier to a filtration specialist in many areas. The purchase of Brazilian company Linter Filtros Industriais was the first acquisition outside Europe and the third in the field of industrial air filtration. With Opening of sales offices in Warsaw and Sydney (here with a focus on Hydraulic Filtration), Hengst is now represented on five continents. The preparations for production in the field of medical technology and the investments in the TechCenter Filtration (both at the main site in Münster) also demonstrate the company's transformation.
CEO Heine is therefore also optimistic about the medium-term future: "We are experiencing high demand for our innovative filtration solutions for future topics such as fuel cells. This interest from the market boosts our motivation in the development of sustainable technologies and reinforces our vision of purifying our planet."
