Balș is a small town in the Romanian county of Olt with around 16,000 inhabitants. The town is located exactly between the counties of Argeș and Dolj, where Dacia-Renault and Ford plants are located. Balș is also located on the Romanian national road DN65 between Pitești and Craiova and on the railroad line between Bucharest and Craiova.
Hengst opened the plant in Balș in May 2024 and primarily manufactures Filters for the "Filtration for Home and Profession" sector, i.e. for cleaning appliances and power tools in the private and professional sector on an area of up to 15,000 square meters. The largest customers for the Balș plant are Miele, Kärcher, Bosch and Hilti.
The aim is to have around 100 employees in Balș by 2025. They will work closely with their colleagues at Rawicz (Poland) and Head office in Münster.
